The 2007 Friends of the Creche Annual Convention is now
history. 223 old and new members gathered in Dublin, Ohio,
November 8-10, 2007, to explore the ethnic traditions and
music celebrating the birth of our Lord.

In the lobby of the Embassy Suites Hotel we viewed an
outstanding selection of creches from the renowned
International Collection of the University of Dayton. Curated
by Fr. Johann Roten, Director of the Marian Library, the
exhibit reflected the ethnic diversity of the Nativity tradition
by featuring the supporting cast of the Nativity tradition: the
people of all walks of life and of all ages, attracted to the
Christ child as to a magnet.
2007 Convention Banner
from His Nativity, the performance featured choral music from Bach to Rutter,
and crowned by an original work of the director, commissioned for the
Friends of the Creche and premiered at the concert. Those who enjoyed the
concert and those who were unable to attend can now enjoy the music of the
evening through a CD recording, which has just been released (See
announcement below). For more on the concert program, click here.

Regretably, the pewter ornament was not completed in time to be distributed to participants
at the convention, but it has now been mailed out as a memento of the
convention and for use next Christmas.
Finally, we take pleasure in announcing that the 2007 Awards of Recognition went to:
Betsy Christensen of Ann Arbor, Michigan, for her promotion of the Creche
tradition in her community; and

Constance Breen and Ginny Whalen on behalf of
Creches International of the
University of Dayton, for the dedicated efforts of this group in promoting and
maintaining the International Collection of Creches at the University of Dayton
